General information, not personal advice

Our articles explain how technology, games, vehicles and household devices usually work. They cannot take account of your exact hardware, software version, contract, country or circumstances. Treat what you read as a starting point. Before you change a system setting, open a computer case, adjust a car or sign up for a service, check the manufacturer's instructions or the provider's terms for your own situation.

Some articles mention finance, property, legal matters or health. Those pieces are deliberately general. For decisions in those areas, speak to a qualified professional who can look at your case.

Your own risk with hardware and settings

Tinkering is part of the fun, but it carries risk. Opening devices may affect a warranty, electrical work can be dangerous and some changes are hard to reverse. Always disconnect power first, follow official safety guidance and stop if you are unsure. We cannot accept responsibility for damage, data loss or injury resulting from steps described on the site.

Accuracy and updates

We check facts carefully and correct mistakes when we find them, but technology moves fast and an article can fall behind a new software release or a changed price plan. The date shown at the top of each article tells you when it was last revised. If you spot something that no longer holds, the contact page explains how to tell us.
