Z-Man's Quest

The Quest Team

The Quest Team is a small group of four writers who met through a shared habit: taking gadgets apart, reading the manual afterwards and then explaining the whole thing to friends who never asked. We publish under pen names so the attention stays on the articles. None of us claims professional credentials in the subjects we cover. What we offer is time, patience and a willingness to test things before writing about them.

Who covers what

Zinovia: television, streaming and privacy

Zinovia looks after the largest corner of the site, everything to do with television delivered over the internet. She cares about the unglamorous parts: router placement, compression, latency and whether a service is properly licensed where the reader lives. Her favourite starting point for newcomers is tips for smoother streaming.

Fintan: PC games, virtual reality and computers

Fintan writes about graphics settings, hardware upkeep and headsets. He tends to test every option in a menu one at a time, which makes him slow at finishing games and quite good at explaining them. His recent work includes keeping a PC cool while gaming and the guide to VR motion sickness.

Wendelin: gadgets, kitchen and cars

Wendelin covers the physical things: appliances, backup power, tyres, engine oil and the small devices that end up in a kitchen drawer. He reads the safety section of every manual first, and it shows in his articles.

Bartolo: AI tools, search and world explainers

Bartolo handles software that changes quickly, from AI image tools to search engine updates, plus explainers about services in other countries. He is the team's sceptic and usually the one asking whether a new feature solves a real problem.

How we work together

Drafts move between the four of us in a shared folder. Whoever writes an article is never the person who approves it. Questions from readers go to the writer of that beat, but the whole team sees them, which is how several new articles began. When one of us is away, another picks up corrections so nothing waits too long.

What we are not

We are not a shop, a repair service or a support line for any brand. We cannot log in to your accounts or fix a device remotely. If you need that kind of help, the company that sold you the product is the right place to start. For anything else, the contact page reaches all four of us.

Why pen names

The work carries the signature

We sign articles with pen names because the explanation should hold up without a title or a famous face behind it. That standard keeps us honest: if a step does not work when a reader follows it, the article needs fixing.

Nobody on this desk holds a professional qualification in television engineering, computing or cars. What we bring is patience, a habit of checking the official documentation and the willingness to correct ourselves in public.

The second reader's checklist

Our shared list for the second reader.

  • The opening paragraph answers the question in the title.
  • Every claim can be traced to documentation, official guidance or our own test.
  • Steps work when followed in order on a real device.
  • Any technical word gets a plain explanation on first use.
  • Health, money and legal topics end with a pointer to a qualified professional.
  • Internal links lead to pages that actually help with the next question.
