Z-Man's Quest
Privacy on the Quest
This page explains which personal data is involved when you visit Z-Man's Quest or write to us, why, and what control you have over it. The short version: we built the site so that it needs almost none of your information.
Plain pages, nobody watching
Every page on Z-Man's Quest is a plain file delivered to your browser. There are no user accounts, no comment forms and no login. We do not run analytics software, advertising networks, social media plugins or tracking pixels, and we do not build profiles of visitors. Fonts and images are served from the same place as the pages themselves.
Your cookie choice
When you first arrive, a small notice asks you to accept or decline. Your answer is stored in your own browser using a feature called local storage, so the notice does not appear on every page. The stored value records your answer and nothing more. It is never sent to us, and you can remove it at any time by clearing the site data in your browser settings. More detail is on Cookie Controls.
Hosting logs
Like any website, ours is delivered by a hosting provider whose servers keep short technical logs when pages are requested. These logs can include your IP address, the time of the request, the page asked for and basic information about your browser. They exist to keep the service secure and working, for example to spot abuse or fix errors. We do not combine them with other data or use them to identify individual readers, and the provider deletes them after a limited period in line with its own retention rules.
When you email us
If you write to reach@zmansquest.com, we receive your email address, your name if you include it and whatever you put in the message. We use this only to read and answer your message and, where you report a mistake, to fix the article concerned. We do not add you to a mailing list or pass your details to anyone else. Emails are kept only for as long as the conversation needs them and then deleted.
The contact form on our contact page works the same way: it opens your own email program with the message filled in. The website itself never receives the text you write.
Legal basis
For readers in the European Union and the United Kingdom, the hosting logs are processed on the basis of legitimate interest in running a secure website. Email correspondence is processed to respond to your request. Your cookie choice is stored because you made it.
Your rights
Under the GDPR and similar laws you may ask to see the personal data we hold about you, have it corrected or deleted, restrict or object to its use and receive a copy in a portable format. With so little on file, we can normally deal with a request swiftly. Send them to the address above. You also have the right to complain to a data protection authority in the country where you live or work.
Links to other websites
Our articles occasionally point to outside websites. After you click through, that website's privacy rules govern what happens to your data, and its collection practices are outside our control.
Changes
If the way the site works changes, this page will be updated first. Last updated October 2026.
